Alec Finlay – Larch Benches

Alec Finlay – Larch Benches
Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh and Warwick University, Coventry

Working with the internationally acclaimed artist and poet Alec Finlay, we designed and made a series of curved larch benches that would harmonise with the surrounding area and landscape.

The artist required simple yet elegant proportions which worked compositionally with nearby artworks. We used Siberian larch due to it’s excellent durability and it’s natural silver colour once weathered.

The benches at the Royal Botanic Garden, Edinburgh are one element of the new national memorial dedicated to Scotland’s organ and tissue donors.
