Collective Gallery – Retail Units

Collective Gallery – Retail Units

In November 2018, Collective Gallery moved into their new home on Calton Hill, featuring the restored City Observatory, City Dome, and a purpose-built exhibition space and shop. Old School Fabrications were commissioned to design and make retail units for this unique location.

Taking inspiration from the Georgian architecture of the City Observatory and the astronomical apparatus present, we designed and made portable and adaptable retail units. The furniture is hard-wearing, tactile and allows for the shop space to be easily condensed to make room for various events and functions.

By using a carefully chosen palette of materials the retails units not only have a contemporary feel, but also connect with the fascinating history of the building.
