East Lothian Council – Bronze Sculptures

Bronze Sculptures
East Lothian Council
Tranent, East Lothian

The design, fabrication and installation of five sculptures to be placed within the private garden of East Lothian Council’s Crookston Care Home & Day Centre.

Through in depth consultation with staff and residents, we chose to use a local theme for the artworks. The East Lothian landscape and recent history provided the subject matter for a series of drawings, which we developed into small scale recognisable sculptures. The artworks created talking and focal points for the dementia clients, staff and family visitors.

The green patina of the sculptures is achieved by the application of copper nitrate. The solid green oak plinth is left untreated, naturally silvering in colour, thus blending into the surrounding landscape and planting.
