Edinburgh International Festival – Blueprint for the Future

Old School Fabrications created a temporary installation to showcase creative writing and visual art created by teenagers from secondary schools across Edinburgh. A team of professional artists worked with the students to explore their ideas using an early photography process called cyano-type. The students were asked to write a letter as their future self, back to themselves today. The results they produced offered a fascinating glimpse into the teenage psyche.

We were appointed by the Edinburgh International Festival (EIF) to design, build and install a unique display for the presentation of this exciting project. We created a contemporary structure using a combination of open slatted pine, translucent polycarbonate walls and bold blue flooring and display materials. This vivid and expressive exhibition was on display for the duration of Au-gust in the grounds of the University of Edinburgh’s Old College.
