For the first two Dundee Design Festivals, OSF were appointed as exhibition designers to transform West Ward Works – a former print factory into a unique festival venue.
We designed and made colourful industrial steel tables of bold proportions and varying material finishes, designed to present individual exhibits from studios, workshops and factories around the world in a coherent display. We produced a range of accompanying exhibition infrastructure aimed at creating a friendly and distinctive space for visitors including: coloured window gels, a large three-dimensional logo form; bespoke exhibit display items; large partition screens; way-finding signage panels and steel benches.
Dundee Design Festival brought together makers who experiment with materials, explore new techniques, and combine traditional craftsmanship with modern industrial processes. This approach closely aligned with OSF’s philosophy of exhibition design and production. Sustainability was a key focus throughout the project, with an emphasis on creating furniture and display items that could be repurposed for future use. Many of the pieces designed for this commission have since been used in other projects, reinforcing OSF’s commitment to reducing waste and maximizing the lifespan of its designs.
