Scottish Canals – Corten Steel Vinegar Bottle

Old School Fabrications were commissioned by Scottish design agency Four by Two to fabricate and install two large corten steel sculptures along the Forth and Clyde Canal corridor celebrating the rich heritage and integrity of a working canal. Two sites were selected along a four mile stretch where commercial business once thrived on an industrial scale. The project set out to breath new life into the area reimagining the stretch of canal connecting the Falkirk Wheel to the Helix Park and the Kelpies.

Along the canal, Mr McAuley’s Vinegar Works stood close to Lock 5 in 1854. The Cor-Ten steel sculpture celebrates a typical earthenware vessel typical of the era. Commanding a prominent location, the sculpture aligns with the canal and offers a view along a 1 mile stretch of the canal.

At an impressive five meters in height our team were responsible for the construction design, fab-rication, groundworks, transportation and installation of the project.
