V&A London – Videogames: Design/Play/Disrupt

Videogames: Design/Play/Disrupt was a major exhibition at the V&A London that explored the design and culture of contemporary videogames. This exhibition provided a unique insight into the lesser seen design process behind a selection of ground-breaking contemporary videogames.

We were commissioned by a curation and production studio called We Throw Switches. Their brief to us was to design and make a series of alternative arcade machine cabinets for four unique video games. Each arcade cabinet incorporated different control panels, screen angles and other adjustable elements. It also had to be easily accessible for electronic maintenance and transportable for touring purposes. Once built, the cabinets were delivered to a number of visual artists to colourfully decorate them.

We were subsequently asked to create two further cabinets for the following exhibition tour which visited the Dundee V&A with more venues to follow.
