EAST LOTHIAN COMMUNITY HOSPITAL WAITING SPACES

East Lothian Community Hospital sought to enhance two specialist speech and language therapy rooms and an adjacent hallway. In collaboration with Round Table Projects and through close consultation with the NHS team, we designed and implemented a series of playful, contemporary, and distraction-free improvements.

To promote greater engagement during therapy sessions, we introduced low-level seating to encourage interaction from both young people and parents. We created a versatile magnetic sliding wall panel for drawing exercises, incorporating a concealed mirror and chalkboard to support both visual and tactile learning. The enhancements have transformed the spaces, allowing the clinical staff carry out their important work diagnosing and treating young children with complex needs.
