Old School Fabrications created a temporary installation to showcase creative writing and visual art created by teenagers from secondary schools across Edinburgh. A team of professional artists worked with the students to explore their ideas using an early photography process called cyanotype. The students were asked to write a letter as their future self, back to themselves today. The results they produced offered a fascinating glimpse into the teenage psyche.
We were appointed by the Edinburgh International Festival (EIF) to design, build and install a unique display for the presentation of this exciting project. We created a contemporary structure using a combination of open slatted pine, translucent polycarbonate walls and bold blue flooring and display materials. This vivid and expressive exhibition was on display for the duration of August in the grounds of the University of Edinburgh’s Old College.
