Greyfriars Charteris Centre is a converted, century-old Edinburgh church making a new base for social enterprises, charities and local groups with offices, meeting rooms, desk hire and event spaces.
Appointed as specialist joiners, this project was meticulously designed and developed in partnership with the Konishi Gaffney architects. Using a lovely combination of walnut and maple hardwood, we created a wide stair with ‘seating steps’, balustrades and handrails, which connects the multi-level interior. Component parts we're fabricated at off-site to a high quality, making for a quicker, easier and more controlled installation.
This is a great example of a collaborative approach between architect and maker to deliver a beautifully detailed and seamless outcome.
